It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Elmer Maurice Stenzel, of Coal Valley, IL on June 18, 2024, at the age of 88.A private family farewell to Elmer will be held at a later date. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion are assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion, IL where Elmer & Janet are members.Elmer was born on January 22, 1936, in Osco, IL, to Maurice and Helen (Schlenzen) Stenzel. He graduated from Orion High School in 1954 and was united in marriage to the love of his life for 69 years, Janet Townsend, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Geneseo (Edford Township) on October 9, 1954.Elmer farmed with his father and older brother, Ron, before transitioning to a career at Ametek in East Moline and later as Transportation Manager at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, where he retired in 1994. In addition, Elmer, along with his brothers, founded Stenzel Brothers Auction
