Mary J. Mitten, 92, of Galva died on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15th at the First United Methodist Church, Galva. Pastor Rebecca Gearhart will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private interment services will be held in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Mary Joan Linton was born June 28, 1931, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Chester P. and Eva C. (Thompson) Linton. She attended Olivet Nazarene College, Bourbonnais, IL. She married Donald L. Mitten on Sept. 19, 1954, in Shelbyville, IL. He survives.
Mary had worked at John Deere Harvester East Moline in the office for 10 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting, jigsaw puzzles, and reading. She had also enjoyed many trips that her Don had taken.
